I loved your point about budgeting for future expenses through sinking funds. What advice would you give to someone trying to balance saving for future needs while still enjoying life today? Also, are you an excel spreadsheet budgeter because budgeting apps are lacking in the tools you want? Interested to hear what you prioritize in a budgeting tool.

Thanks, Ellen! Always great to hear some positive feedback! 🙌

On balancing saving for the future with enjoying life now, I’d say prioritization is key. Start by figuring out your absolute must-pay expenses—what needs to be covered no matter what. Whatever’s left can then be allocated toward things like travel, hobbies, or even a "free fund" if there aren’t any pressing priorities. This approach gives you a clear view of both current and future expenses, helping to avoid surprises. Plus, you might even spot ways to optimize your spending—for example, bundling certain costs to save more.

As for budgeting tools, I personally use an Excel template. It’s simple, cost-effective, and gives me a great visual overview of my finances. Works like a charm!
